The African American Genealogy Group (AAGG) has selected Dean Henry, owner of www.familypearl.com, as a member speaker for its June 12, 2012 general meeting. The African American Genealogy Group is a 501(c)(3) not- for-profit organization. It was founded in January 1989 in response to the ever-increasing number of people who express a desire to research their family “roots.”
Family Pearl was recently founded by Mr. Henry after years of personal family history research, and a desire to share techniques for strengthening family bonds through the use of family research, family outreach, and oral history recording. Mr. Henry is a Certified Legacy Advisor of the International Association of Storykeepers (http://www.legacystories.org/i- ask?wiz_id=864).
Mr. Henry’s topic will be “Genealogy Basics & Case Study: Bishop Alexander W. Wayman, A.M.E. Church.” Bishop Wayman, 7th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was Mr. Henry’s 2nd great-granduncle.
AAGG general membership meetings are free and open to the public, and are held at the West Philadelphia Regional Campus of Community College of Philadelphia, second Tuesdays (except July and August), 4725 Chestnut Street at 7:00 PM.
